Owner Paul J. Robison, L.Ac., has over ten years clinical experience and is best known for treating low back, hip, shoulder, and neck pain. He also has vast experience treating many types of chronic pain, physical injuries, surgical recovery, depression, anxiety, insomnia, headaches, and symptoms of general stress.

New to Cary, Paul had a thriving practice in DC, and supported people of diverse identities and contrasting professional careers. At the requests of his clientele, he continues to make regular trips to DC to support many of his long-standing clients.

A survivor of childhood cancer and open-heart surgery, Paul understands how effective acupuncture and Chinese medicine are in restoring one's health from significant illness to their utmost vitality. He excels at meeting people where they are in their healing journey and supporting their pursuit of robust health.

Paul now lives and practices acupuncture in Cary, North Carolina. He loves his roles as a father and husband. He strives to live the principles of Chinese holistic medicine in his own life and is grateful to share this beautiful medicine with the world. He loves his time with family, cooking, surfing, and feels best when he is in nature.

Education and Training

Paul is currently licensed to practice acupuncture in North Carolina and Washington, DC. Before starting his practice, Paul passed the California state board licensing examination, which many consider to be the gold standard for acupuncture licensing exams. He also passed the NCCAOM examinations required to be a certified NCCAOM Diplomate of Oriental Medicine rendering him eligible for licensing in most states.

He received his Master of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (MATCM) at Five Branches University which consisted of 3,435 hours of study that included the following:

  • A pre-requisite of 2-3 years of undergraduate studies in basic sciences (chemistry, biology, physics)

  • 1,000+ hours of clinical experience

  • 1,500 hours of Chinese medical training, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, etc.

  • 700 hours of Western medical training, including anatomy/physiology, diagnosis, pharmacology, pathophysiology, red flags, etc.

  • 100 hours of professional training; ethics, laws/regulations

  • 1000+ hours of Qigong (restorative movement), TaiChi, and Chinese Martial Art practice (NATSTA)

 

Certifications

  • Intensive 1,088-hour accredited apprenticeship and clinical training program in Traditional Chinese Orthopedic Massage therapy (Jin Shou Tuina) and Craniosacral Therapy. (www.6harmonies.org)
